Echoes of Ovid

Image of Echoes of Ovid

ECHOES OF OVID, released in 2014, is the fourth handmade book by Linda Morrow; it features twelve portraits of women, each offering a sense of interplay between the feminine and the vegetative, and centering on Ovid's story of Daphne who, upon fleeing from an unwanted lover, is transformed by her father into a tree. The portraits speak to transformation and metamorphosis and intend to blur the line between the human form and the botanical. Images are combined with original poetry by Margaret Langhans.
